i CANNOT believe that the reason Ivan tried to choke Till(which is js part of an act i think) his choking was not forceful, but just enough to create the impression of a struggle and contribute to the performance + make Till achieve the highest score cus he noticed that his score was lower. The moment he's gonna die, he wasn't able to put on his usual smile. He let out his true emotions instead.

Notice how Ivan mostly appears during the "piano" segment while Till does most in the violin? At the beginning of the final duet, we notice that both instruments are playing together in harmony just like how Till and Ivan are when they spend time with each other..Then, at the end, only the violin is left as it disappears once the song is finished (as if to let you know that at the end, Till died too).
