This doesn't just benefit the individual males (as you pointed out) as consumers, but this also benefits the big companies. While women are more likely to spend at individual local shops, or boutiques, Mency splitters as a way to show their income as a status symbol. Big companies will stay big because of this. (this is not mean that females do not buy from big companies, example jewelry or make up brands for feminine items. But if we're looking at the numbers, men are much more likely to spend on the much more expensive things like cars. There was a study where men were more likely to buy a new car than woman.) I think the ones who benefit from this narrative of 'irresponsible girl shopping' are not just men in general, but also big companies and abusers.
