I’m a loctician and I did the 2 strand twist on my starter locs. I’m 4 months in with maturing locs. My hair matured super fast. I guess to each its own. Don’t get me wrong def can cause tension.

Besties, she is not talking about starting your loc journey with the two strand twist method. You may start with two strands, comb coils, braids, etc. She is recommending that you don’t STYLE your starter locs with two strands during your retwist appointments until they have matured/budded more. 💕

You can do what you want to your hair. I will just say at the end of the day having styles in the starter loc phase is crazy. Your hair is at its most vulnerable state in the beginning.

It depends on what you do on the daily. You do sports or workout, 2 strands for sure to hold the retwist. If not a regular retwist no style works as well.

Some people need a style to save them from combing out their starter Locs. Me personally, I never styled my starter Locs. I’m not a loctician, but I’m a former cosmetologist and I just feel like styling (other than a lose pony etc) compromised the loc.
