People have different interests. Those in finance/CS are gonna be interested in a lot more math and classical methods such as SDEs, Stocahstic Processes, Malliavin Calculus, etc. rather than using neural network based models to model price movements (or to automate statistical arbitrage in the case of HFT) - what you did is a lot more software engineering, cool, but much less so when you wanna shit over someone else’s profession and things that people are passionate about.
