This is important. Lasting change doesnt come from a march, no matter how many people. What matters is what follows, the lasting pressure the lasting resistance. If all you do is wave a sign and chant feel good slogans, then go home and think 'Well I did my part' then you have done exactly what the System is designed for

Profoundly interesting – thanks for posting. The right has been profoundly organized: Federalist Society getting sleeper cells installed at all levels of the judiciary, Citizens United, patient gerrymandering over decades, impeding voting access, seeding conspiracy theories, Q, Project 2025, scheduling the BBB’s most severe mass damages for after the midterm elections, etc. The resistance needs similar long-term strategy based on clearly elucidated goals for the country, alliances, and planet – on top of shorter term tactics and urgent mobilizations.

Protests are really best for marketing and networking. It’s a good way to get very motivated people to help out with efforts like showing up to city council meetings. You very likely will run into very talented people who you wish to recruit or other organizations with similar interests, thereby creating and strengthening coalitions. Idk. That’s been my experience and I’ve only been to five protests.
