“Did you f*cking call me a goof??” is the only appropriate response.

Goof is less prevalent in southern Ontario, I find. I didn't know it's meaning until I started working in court services and transcription, where the phrase came up a few times.

Goof is prison lingo for pedo. Basically you gunna get slapped if you call anyone a goof if they have done time.

I feel called out by Keener. I say loop in at least once a month, my colour coded spreadsheets are a point of pride.

Oh man skid was definitely a well used word. I was so confused when I moved to Saskatoon and no one knew what I was talking about

I honestly didn’t know what goof meant. I’m Gen X and I grew up hearing this from my father all the time and had no idea what it meant so I would go around calling people goof. It’s only until very recently that I understood it’s meaning.

Where I grew up someone who was beyond a total skid was a skidmark.

I remember as a teenager my younger brother let it slip (or maybe he was just being a tool and was testing the waters) The way my Dad slowly said, “I’m…not…your…buddy…BUDDY” 😳 The thought still makes me shudder

This must be West Coast - lol! Only know Keener, Tool, Buddy, Goof. Have others on the East Coast (actual east coast)

Buddy is more generic on the east coast, you could say "the bathroom is in the hall just past buddy in the blue shirt" (assuming neither speaker or listener knows buddy in the blue shirt). It's not praising or insulting buddy in the blue shirt.
