@donnyomalley: Abuelita is terrified of dying, which is really weird because she's 93 years old, and her body and mind are in constant pain. I finally got to the root of the problem- she thinks she's going to hell. Sometimes she claims not to believe in religion, but she always believes that she's going "down to burn." Every time i see her I remind her that she's going to heaven, and I list the reasons WHY she's going to heaven, "You created a beautiful family, you have 5 happy successful kids, you have 7 happy healthy beautiful successful grandkids, you have 7 beautiful, happy great grand kids. You raised your 5 kids by yourself and brought them out of poverty, and blah blah blah." None of my words land. She still has nightmares of the dark shadow man coming to take her to burn...
