In the warmer month you need to use heavy gear to get them in quick and then rest the for 10 mins ish I learned this the hard way on my syndicate and I had to ring the baliff and this is the advice he gave me

most pike hunters don't target them thru the summer for the fact pike fight to the point of exhaustion.. and with the low oxygen levels in the summer.. alot of pike die.. if u do catch pike just hold it upright in the water till it swims off on its own accord.. everyone makes mistakes thats how we learn.. good luck in the future 👍

Fished for pike for 20 years. Never ever had one go back like this. However, always been fished for in colder months. All it takes is a abit of education/research. I also worked for the rivers doing fish surveys. Although not illegal, it really isn't worth it when these fish are becoming endangered. Just think, please, for the future of these fish.

thats not how you release. dont throw him in, hold him in the water so he has time for the water to circle his gills properly. he'll swim when hes ready
