I just had hip replacement surgery 2 days ago and before surgery my surgeon told me that my replacement side would be longer because he had to stretch the muscles to make it tight or something like that.

it's a real thing. your replaced hip is metal and straight. your left hip is bone and curved. u will need a small lift in your left shoe to walk normal. sooner u do that the better. see your doctor is won't resolve on its own.

Double hip replacement, 6 months apart, I lost cane within a week. Stand a wait a second before walking for stability. 3-4 days post I went back home with 3 flights of stairs. Didnt want to be a bother at sisters.

Yep, happened to me also. I did additional PT to help me with balance and to learn how to an account for the difference. I hope it will even out with my other hip replacement. Hope it doesn’t get worse. 🥺

Everone is different of course, but personally, I was walking unassisted day of surgery. I waked out of the hospital. I felt pretty much back to normal after 3 weeks or so.

I just had my left hip done June 5th. Everyone’s different. My hip was bad for 7 years. My ortho surgeon said that because I went so long with a bad hip, he not wanting me to use a cane til mid July. He said it was one of the worst he’s ever removed. I’m really achy this time but once I move around more it helps .

tell your PT provider. they can help. I went through this, PT helped some, but at 13m post total knee I'm still lopsided in leg length.

I've heard from 2 people that had the same. New hip leg is shorter. 😔

I am 5 weeks post hip replacement. I did my left hip and my right leg now feels shorter. That is my only concern as well. I was dead worried and now I'm glad I'm not the only on experiencing that. Let's hope it's a way to perfect recovery 😂. Get well 😊

I had a total hip replacement 1 1/2 years ago. it does take time. it took about 10 months for me to walk normal. my hip replacement leg is longer because they do this to prevent dislocation. you will get use to it. Just keep walking and doing exercises 😁😁😁

My Mother had hip replacement - one side of her was higher than the other. The 2 week X-ray check up - the bone shattered post op. Had to undergo 5 hour surgery to reconstruct the bone. Awful for her.

I haven’t had my replacement yet , but my surgeon told me she’ll try and keep my legs the same length. I wasn’t aware that it was a thing

Have the same problem ! And with athletic shoes is ok but the hell are we going to do with women shoes

2 months post surgery I just came back from Florence! Walked more that 17.000 per day ! But only with athletic shoes and a soul in the other leg ! Walking without support is bad ! Get tired harder

I just had replacement surgery in April, happy to say I’m so much better, it was hard the 1st week but I the more I moved the better I got.
