1400. no I'm not selling him. there's multiple horses in my area who are perfectly broke, kid broke, show broke, lesson broke, built like tanks, trail broke who are under 10,000. Gaited, flea bitten, pintos, big, small, regular greys, palomino's, appy's. it's not that hard to find horses under 10k in Michigan if you go to the right places

I have a wonderful mare that I can't get any interest in, its blowing my mind. she is incredibly safe and not marish at all. Draft cross! I stress that she is safe and easy and not a hoof dragged. I love her and think she is beautiful

I would argue that trainers are FINALLY getting what they’re worth. People often forget how much time and money goes into a well broke horse. I’m glad to see trainers being able to recoup some of that effort.

It’s not unlike housing prices. Where you live makes a massive difference in price as well. There is a reason many people fly out of state to horse shop.

You get what you pay for! Yes you can find much cheaper horses that are either unbroken, lame or have a problem that needs fixed! That mare looks phenomenal in my opinion! Great find!

You’re right horse prices are insane and it doesn’t matter if they’re registered or a grade horse. If it’s healthy and broke it’s gonna be pricey.

I know nothing about horse pricing, but I’m generally curious what you would think a walk trot trail horse capable of carrying 250 pound adult would go for breed and height does not matter

As someone who has gotten all my horses for nothing or next to nothing… no this is not a crazy price AT ALL. I’m not a pro in any capacity but I would ALWAYS tell someone to expect a low 5 figure budget for anything safe and sound.

You are so correct. Seems like horses have gone up in price since ALL prices began to rise during Covid. Feed, hay, vet bills, etc. all have skyrocketed in price. I have gotten out of horses because of all the price hikes.

People who make comments like this do not understand the market right now. A sound, safe horse with a great mind and that can dabble in everything is worth $10k starting. Can you find something for less? Sure. But that’s not the rule, that’s the exception rn. (Also. If you find anything for cheap I’m willing to bet you’ll have to pay double what you originally paid in vet and/or training fees 🤷🏼♀️)

Even in rescue, our adoption fees are up because feeding, training, vetting, and so on, are more expensive. Our adoption fees are not nearly this high but they are up from previous years. The market is way up.
