@arianaluterman: This is how I recover like someone who respects what they just accomplished. After 140.6 miles, your job isn’t just to refuel… It’s to recenter.
To come back home to your body.
To process. To celebrate. To give your black toes some love. To repair your gut. Recovery isn’t just protein and carbs. It’s intentional movement, nervous system regulation, soft rituals, and hanging your dang medal before jumping into the next goal!! These are a few of the less typical ways I support my mind, body, and heart after an Ironman. Of course, I’m also using all the usual stuff—supplements, fueling strategies, and gear—but this post is about the ways I recover that most people don’t talk about. What are your go-to unconventional recovery rituals? I’d love to add a few to my list!!! :) #ironmantri #triathlete #ironmanrecovery #recovery #ironmantriathlon #femaleathlete #enduranceathlete

This is so helpful! I did a 70.3 a few weeks ago in preparation for the full at lake placid and I’ve definitely been wondering what I’ll even do with myself in the immediate aftermath. Appreciate you putting all this out there

How long did it take you to train for an Ironman? What was your fitness level when you started eyeing it?

Do you ever do IV’s to help aid in recovery? I struggled a lot with dehydration after a half that was unseasonably warm so was thinking about trying it after my race in 2 week
