I will say, it may have worked if it was like Anne Hathaway or someone else. I think Dakota Johnson lacks the acting chops for what they were trying to do. so it was just fine but could have been good

I think people are focusing too much on Lucy’s choice of suitors instead of what the movie as a whole is saying about dating and relationships in general. Also, the marketing team for A24 set it up to fail as a romcom.

Are we going to ignore the fact that Pedro’s character essentially said he was settling for Dakotas character because they “go well together”?? She called him out on it because he’s not in love with her. As a woman in her mid 30s, this is VERY common and people do settle all because they just want to be married. It’s a smart film about dating past your 20s.

loved this movie!! people are so mad about the catfish marketing but thought it played so well into the topic of the movie!! also I laughed quite a bit, and obviously romance is present throughout despite what everyone is saying lol.

I really tried to enjoy this movie after watching it. But thinking through Pedro’s and Dakota’s character logic and timeline of the movie pmo. I didn’t see it as broke boy propaganda btw
