@vegan_ventures: Zen Garden is a women and AAPI-owned spa located in Lake Oswego (2 locations, this one is their downtown LO location). While they offer a variety of Chinese and Thai treatments as well as facials and accupuncture. One of their specialties is their TuiNa Chinese massage. TuiNa is a 2000 year old traditonal massage based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body's physical, emotional, and energetic aspects while while Western massages primarily focus on muscle relaxation. TuiNa focuses on balancing energy (qi) and restoring harmony within the body using hands-on techniques like pushing, rubbing, kneading, and acupressure. It aims to relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, and improve overall well-being. On this day I was having a lot of pain in the upper right part of my back and the techniques used were helpful to help relieve some of that. Afterwards, I was treated to a lymphatic facial. I could’ve had this go on forever! It was very therapeutic and the massing on my face was gentle and relaxing. Part of the treatment also came with a mask and red light treatment.
