@curtisagardner: Don’t just point out what’s broken. Show what’s in good condition too. Covering the positives builds trust. Let the customer know what’s in great shape, not just what needs fixing. It’s not just good communication. It’s good business. #automotivetechnician #flatratetech #autoindustry #dealershiplife #technicianlife #trustbuildsvalue #videoinspection #multipointinspection #customerexperience #autoshoplife #mechanicmindset #writethero #fixedright #autocare #shopculture
No need to build trust with customers as a tech, that’s the advisors job. No point in building trust, next time they come in how do you know you’ll get the car dispatched? Prob won’t touch the car again since there’s other techs in the shop/ dispatchers dispatch work

So now we advise what customer car needs? Lets get rid of the advisors and they can pay us to do both since we already do it

I used to try this hard at videos until advisors/management started setting unrealistic turn around times. Now I just take pictures of only the recommended components.

My BMW technician recorded a 15 second video when I brought in for a recall and didnt even inspect the car he just walked around the body 💀

I wouldn’t mind if we had longer than 12 minutes to actually film the inspection and fill in the sheet. Not enough time. If my works gave us half an hour we could actually do healthchecks properly instead of giving every customer a rushed mess of an inspection.

Good job on the video, this is very helpful in ways. Customer seemed to like it, especially when the technician find something wrong with the vehicle, the customer better understands it.

Great technique. Show the good first. They expect the bad and will disregard everything you have to say

can someone explain how to word when things aren't in great shape or good but also aren't in need of replacement. I'm struggling when it comes to old suspension because clearly it isn't good but it isn't bad either

I have been trying something new with my videos. I been showing what’s more important to what’s least important. obviously still showing measurements and customer concerns first.
