I get a bit confused by Matthew 5 about divorce. So, if a woman & man are married and one of them is severely abusive and they divorce, if they remarry they’re committing adultery? It just seems… sad.

Yeah no you’re not supposed to ignore Corinthians. There’s many Old Testament laws that we don’t follow as Paul taught clearly that we didn’t have to. As we’re not longer bound by the old law. We’re still bound by the new law.

I also think people forget that the Bible is hundreds of years old. Life and culture is soooo different now. Not everything is going to apply to today’s everyday life. But you can still LEARN and GROW from reading the Bible and following Jesus.

Understanding the context of the Bible is VERY important, and also understanding that some parts of the Bible, the Old Testament especially contained the laws people had to follow back THEN, it’s very different now.

Is being gay a sin, yes. But it’s no worse than fornication outside of marriage, lying, and adultery. All sin is equal. I also believe queer Christian’s have a right to know Gods words and we should accept them and love them, because we are all sinners and will continually struggle to be like Jesus. We all deserve the cross, because when we sin we think we know better than God.

I’m also Christian. I’ve been a Christian all of my life going to church every Sunday with my great grandma and my grandma is just fully against tattoos. I got tattoos just because I was in my rebellious phase and I’m still in that rebellious phase but my great grandma is fully against tattoos saying that they’re a sin. Even though I literally looked up where it would say that tattoos were a sin in the actual Bible her Bible that she has, and I read the full thing to her. But she didn’t believe me! Because Christians never read the full scripture and only pick and choose bits and pieces small sections to fit their narrative.

I've found that the issue is that many choose to just blindly listen to their pastors interpretation of the Bible instead of focusing on their own interpretation and relationship with God. I mean after all they went to school for it.... they must know more.....
