I was with a group of people who went to Palestine to do some activism in the West Bank and there was this maoist girl who was shitting on anarchism. and while there was no formal political political affiliation for the group we were organizing with they do consensus based decisions making which is certainly anarchists in nature. which is all to say, we need some kind of left unity in order to make real progress

I wonder how much of this comes from generational separation. The passion and persistence that comes from young vision needs to be paired with wisdom and life experience from elders. We all see certain things clearly at different ages, and separating everyone by age from day 1 has done a disservice.

I left organizing for the same reason. I am still very much a communist but I am not into purity politics. In a group there are people who will have problematic beliefs and if you push all of them away you will find yourself very alone. We have to be willing to work with them and that also gives us an opportunity to talk with them and perhaps they will gain perspective or some kind of undersranding.

Was talking to a gay Trump supporter in the comments the other day and tbh, a lot of our beliefs ab how to improve gov are similar (term limits, money out of politics, etc). ppl for the most part want the same things but have dif approaches to how to get there based on how they were raised, income level, personal experiences, educational level, etc. it’s not a good strategy to go all these ppl=worthless and bad. A lot of those supporters are just not educated ab the reality of our gov. Yes, it’s no one’s obligation to educate ppl, but if you want change, you can’t hide from them and write them off because they make up a large amount of the working class. Especially if your movement truly is ab helping the little guy, that includes the little guys you don’t like.

It is a sort of fight fire with fire scenario. How do you stop the negativite energy, well you pass it on No you have to transmute it with love. Love doesn’t exist in an alarmed state even if the alarm is very real, its a reflex. It’s funny to find out that the only thing to conquer is ourselves and that’s where the peace is even if the world is at chaos it’s not that one shouldn’t act its that it is wiser to act with a certain beat. Got to play it cool and smart can’t become like the monsters you’re trying to slay, that would mean that hate, prejudice, bigotry, blatant racism and sexism win in the long run. I think Alan Watts said it best when he said that it’s the puritans and the moralist who are the most mischievious trouble makers out of the lot. Some people can be saved they can learn and be more open some other people… well I predict violence and like a person throwing a tantrum in a room full of people it’s really hard to ignore violence and everybody gets dragged in. That’s why your message is so important. There should be more organizations it seems like in the left side of politics people are less organized because they agree less with each other, I’ve seen more online discussions and criticisms and actual communication about political theories. On the other side things seemed more blocked in and narrowed down to a definitive answer so there seems to be more organization. (I follow contrasting politically pages and read comments) They knew who they were voting for, without a doubt. Other people didn’t know wether or not to vote for kamala. Should I vote strategically? But sell out my ideals? What about the war? And so on, for some people the better choice was neither. And I don’t blame anybody for acting on what they believed but I find that we act too much on what we believe and that is the inherent problem in the first place, belief systems. We have to act on what is objectively happening not on what the narrarator of our mental filing cabinet is saying.
