The book yes, the movie no. The movie is a horrible adaptation hence the author’s little involvement with it. Dolores was never meant to be depicted like that, the movie s*xualized not only the character but also the very real actor who she is trying to look like. Not to mention this isn’t her first time being tied to minor characters or the idea of youth for sexualization. This isn’t about media literacy or the lack there of.
