Would you ever pass a vehicle with 2mm of tread at the lowest point , right on spec ?

I did a safety on a truck about a month ago on a 02 Freightliner! the tires had lots of tread as in brand new! The manufacturing DOT date code was 4901!. can you say that some people in the past have not looked at the DOT date codes on the tires for the last 24yrs!😳

Doesn’t pass in my books. Regulations or not. Once the side wall is compromised it’s over. I’m not having a family of 5 drive down the hwy and take a curve at 110 have a blow out and kill someone over a tire. I guess that’s why in my 30 years I’ve never been questioned by the ministry or sued on why I passed something.

Haha thanks! I just checked mine today and 1-5mm. Was trying to avoid buying new 22.5 Michelin low pros lol.

It may "pass" but certainly not passing in my shop. My signature, my ass, my livelihood.
