Wait a second, as a Gen X’er, our parents didn’t let us IN the house, and our moms themselves sat on lawn chairs smoking heaters, while our dads did the yard work with no shirts on. They didn’t worry about cancer in the least when we were kids.

I’m sorry. Boomers were the generation who covered themselves in oil and lay in the sun to get a ‘suntan’. ‘Demonised the sun?’ Hardly!

My Mom never worried about sun exposure and now she's regularly getting pre-cancerous spots taken off her face. Coincidence? I think not.

My boomer mother took me to all day beach trips with no sunscreen. The sunburns were next level. Lots of sun damage now.

GenX here. Outside all of the time and remember my Mom soaking up the sun too. We had sun-in on our hair to lighten it, sun oil on to help tan. But I will definitely try getting out more again to see if it help me now with menopause

Nooooo. I'm scottish and so pale I reflect sunlight. Every cell in my body is SCREAMING at me to get out of the sun as quickly as possible.
Sun damage to your skin ages it terribly and can absolutely cause skin cancer. Pass me the factor 50 and leave me in the shade thank you.

This makes sense. My symptoms are much worse in Jan/ Feb (UK barely sees the sun in those months!) but from March onwards, I’m outside much more often and they improve. Why didn’t I join the dots? 🤦🏻♀️

Weird because I’m currently in perimenopause,I didn’t have a period at all last summer, started again in the fall, then stopped again in April. Is this a pattern? Please say it ain’t so 😩

As a melanoma survivor, this is dangerous advice. The sun does cause cancer.
