@strombo: There are records that soundtrack a season. Then there are records that soundtrack a reckoning. Here's what I've been thinking about lately. When this album landed, it was more than a film tie-in. It was an accidental manifesto. A Rosetta Stone for Gen X. A haunted mixtape from a scene that didn’t ask to be understood—but got captured anyway. And somehow, in all that fuzz and feedback, it told the truth. Annnnd... It was released 33 years ago this month! How did this become a sonic time stamp of an age suspended between the fall of walls and the rise of digital ghosts? A time when connection felt urgent and music was loud enough to matter, and you poured over the cover liner notes and HELD it in your hand. Sure, this is in part about memory, but also meaning. It is about what we carry, what we lose, and how, in the static, we sometimes find ourselves. For Jimi, Andrew, Layne, Chris and Mark! Play it loud. Love your people. Listen deeper. And let's Top Shelf this beautiful beast.

I’m 53. Teens in the 80’s. In my 20’s in the 90’s. The best time to be those ages. I realize it and I’m humbled by it.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. The way you weave a tale is absolutely fascinating. You have a beautiful skill of luring people in with your words, and telling the most amazing stories with the coolest little details in a way that is accessible for everyone, especially if the listener isn’t always familiar with the people you’re referring to.

The way I kept yelling “Singles!!!” as you described the album. Truly an instrumental album in the history of my personal soundtrack. So thank YOU for vocalizing every sentiment I’ve ever felt and continue to feel around the inevitable passage of time. Sending to all my friends. This is a touchstone. ♥️

Born in 80 & my son will be 16 shortly. The pride I feel when I walk passed his room and hear him playing Come As You Are on his acoustic guitar and Down In A Hole on his Spotify Playlist. I did good. 🥰
