I’m no expert, but I’m not sure you’re supposed to use an air nailer on the tongue part of a plank of solid hardwood. It can destroy the tongue.

that's the easy way of nailing floors, my grandpa used to drive cut nails by hand when he started. my dad started on a manual nailer before pneumatics came out. I learned on that manual nailer. that was tough

ur installing it backwards. start ur rows on the left side so ur striking the tongue with the mallet not the surface wood when knocking in the ends.
