Jehovah's wittnesses don't usually wear hats while out in service, at least where I grew up. I was raised in the religion. Got out about 20 years ago thank goodness.

The first red flag for me is they had hats on. Maybe in some parts of the country JW or Mormons wear hats but where I'm in Canada they don't.You did good too bad the mom did didn't believe, it could have ended badly.
