@tabletalkreviews: Root is becoming as ubiquitous as Catan. It’s not uncommon for multiple copies of Root to get brought out to board game meetups. To be extra clear, I’m not suggesting Root is overrated like some may say Catan is these days. In fact, I think it is great that a heavier game has broken into the college gaming scene so heavily. I would’ve expected Wingspan to be that game, but I see Root everywhere. I see random students in Root shirts (and am kind of jealous @Leder Games). If you read this far, what would you call this kind of a game? Not necessarily a gateway game, but that game that is in every college dorm. We need a word for that.
