I did not expect a coming of age horror drama, but I loved it

Jodie Comer & Alfie Williams were BRILLIANT! Their connection was so touching.

it was absolutely amazing and beautiful and experimental and the characters were full of depth and emotions and backstory. and it was funny! sick of people moaning there wasn't enough zombie killing. it's not a video game.

Yes!! Seeing that their society has completely collapsed yet these survivors still hold traditional social norms of patriarchy and masculinity

I hate that people reduce the first film as a ‘zombie’ film when it is so much more than that & highlights very important societal aspects in a clever way, so it won’t surprise me if many seeing this are disappointed the follow up isn’t again just a scary zombie film

"remember you will die. remember you must love." hit me deep in my feelings what a fantastic film

This is a complete surprise. I expected to give this a sad head shake and read a review by someone who wished earnestly they’d done their taxes instead of falling asleep in the theatre.

people hate sequels for being samey then get mad when a sequel is hella original

The people criticizing this movie just want a zombie gore fest without any actual narrative. Go watch The Walking Dead if that’s what you’re looking for. It was plain as day that this movie was going to be deeper, idk how that wasn’t obvious.

Yes! I’m also so interested in the themes of isolationism with that Island, and I feel like Dad = denial and Doctor = acceptance. I want more robust discussion not just ‘first act good, rest bad’

The first half made me feel like I was in psychosis, the middle made me feel heartbroken and the end left me bewildered lmao, what a fantastic movie

It feels like Danny Boyle and Alex Garland had a vision and they weren’t going to allow anyone to mess with that and kudos to Sony for giving them that freedom. It’s uniquely their movie and no one else’s

There were 5 of us who went- 3 loved it, 2 hated it. That gives you an idea on what the film is like

If yoy want a film where people kill zombies and there's no depth then this isn't for you. if you want a film thats funny and gripping and full of brilliant characters then you'll probably enjoy it.

The people complaining and disliking the film are mostly people who expected a generic action zombie flick. Most who are fans of the first film know that the rage virus was just a backdrop for the themes of diversity, love, hope, and longing.

I know others didn’t like the ending but I actually loved it. It made the “varied pace” that came before it oddly make more sense? Like ok we are leaning into the kooky, cool!

It’s amazing but the last 3 minutes is horrible and disjointed from the rest of the movie which is so grounded.

I feel like the last five minutes ruined everything that came before it. Ended it on a silly, goofy note? Idk

The soundtrack to this one really took me out of some of the scenes. It had a lot of really interesting aspects, but some of the music choices were incredibly distracting. I know it was an active choice by Danny Boyle. I just wish it was more haunting like the first two.

People say the last scene is out-of-place. I think it’s really good. Adds contrast

I loved every second of it. It’s soooo British as well. Classic grit. Perfection (to me).

Now if Cinema Joe likes it too, then it’s my personal TikTok reviewer grand slam and I’ll go.
