My husband has been a pastor for 16+ years - when he was a youth pastor with 10 years of experience, we had to leave our small church for a mega church to afford a place to live. He worked 8-10 hour days, 6 days a week.

I don’t feel bad because the man should get another job during the 5 day work week. At least in my area, the pastor brags about only working one day, aside from some other things that they do during the week, usually other people run the Bible studies

I find this post, quite interesting because every church I have ever gone to or belonged to- the pastors drove really nice cars and lived in beautiful homes. Much more so than the people in the congregation.

My FIL is a pastor and he works a full time job AND pastors the church! God has provided for their family of 10 for years and continues to do so! God blesses those who serve!

Church Clothes :
Small churches equals low pay. But maybe the husbands can be bivocational. Work a full time job to take care of their families while serving the church part time. Would be better if churches did support their pastors sufficiently. God would be honored.

When my husband was a worship pastor, he was working 50+ hours a week (not every but most weeks) and he was also doordashing just so we could afford groceries and gas. We lived in a tiny apartment that was one of the cheapest in our town and our rent was still over 50% of our income. It was so hard but we learned so much. We moved to be closer to family so it’s not our reality anymore but I miss the congregation so much!

My husband is full time church staff (not a pastor) and the hours are unreal. If he worked outside the church, we would have so much more money. other church staff families are living on food stamps and Medicaid ☹️

My husband is a small church pastor and I teach for this reason! We get excellent insurance and I get to be a light in our local schools!

We are so blessed that our church values the work my hubs as the pastor does. (I do a lot of admin stuff) but as a small church it’s just not affordable to pay more. God always makes the 2 ends meet though

I had a Pastor that I knew quite well. His wife was my best friend. The church had about 100 people. She worked like a dog. He wouldn't take calls past 5:00, and very rarely went on visitations absolutely no counseling or personal ministry. I've never seen a pastor do the bare minimum like him. I'm not at that church anymore since I realized how abusive he was and still is.
