The real upgrade isn’t writing longer prompts. It’s giving Claude a repeatable system with the right folders, context, instructions and working habits — so it understands how you work before you even begin the task. ⚡ That’s the idea behind this 8-step Claude Cowork setup. Instead of opening a blank conversation every time and repeatedly explaining: ❌ Who you are ❌ What your business does ❌ How you like things written ❌ What your goals are ❌ Which files matter ❌ What Claude should and shouldn’t do …you build that context once and reuse it. 🧠 Here’s the system 👇 📌 STEP 1 — Get Claude Ready Start with the right workspace and permissions. If your work involves local files, documents, project folders and recurring workflows, organise the environment before worrying about prompts. A clean setup now can remove a lot of friction later. 📁 STEP 2 — Build Your Folder System Give Claude a clear working environment. For example: 📂 about-me 📂 projects 📂 templates 📂 outputs 📂 reference 📄 README.md Think of this as Claude’s workspace. The cleaner your structure is, the easier it becomes to provide the right context for each task. 🎯 STEP 3 — Point Cowork at the Right Context More context isn’t always better. Relevant context is better. Connect the specific project folder, files and tools required for the task rather than giving an AI access to everything unnecessarily. Better context = fewer guesses = better outputs. 💬 STEP 4 — Let Claude Interview You This is one of my favourite parts. Instead of manually trying to remember everything Claude should know, ask Claude to interview you. Tell it to ask about: 👤 Your role 🎯 Your goals 👥 Your audience 🧰 Your tools 🏢 Your business ✍️ Your preferred style 🚫 Your constraints 📈 Your biggest priorities Answer properly once. Then turn those answers into reusable context. 📄 STEP 5 — Create an About-Me File Build something like: about-me.md This can contain: • Who you are • What you do • Current projects • Your goals • Your audience • Your preferred working style • Important background Claude should remember Keep it focused. The goal isn’t to write your autobiography. 😂 It’s to give Claude the high-signal information it needs to work with you effectively. 🎨 STEP 6 — Create Style & Company Files This is where things get powerful. Your style.md can define: ✍️ Tone 📐 Formatting 🗣️ Vocabulary 🚫 Phrases to avoid 📚 Structure ✅ What good output looks like Your company.md can define: 🏢 What your business does 👥 Who it serves 💰 Products and services 🎯 Positioning 📋 Business rules 🧠 Important company context Now Claude isn’t starting from zero every time. 🌍 STEP 7 — Set Your Global Instructions Create the rules you want Claude to follow consistently. For example: ✅ Read relevant context first ✅ Use style files when writing ✅ Ask questions when information is missing ✅ Follow workspace conventions ✅ Store outputs in the correct place ✅ Keep responses aligned with project goals The goal is simple: Less repetitive prompting. More consistent behaviour. ⚙️ STEP 8 — Install the Workflow Into Your Daily Routine A strong workflow might look like: 🎯 Define the task ↓ 🧠 Add relevant context ↓ ❓ Let Claude ask questions ↓ ⚡ Generate the output ↓ 🔎 Review and refine ↓ 📄 Save strong prompts as templates ↓ 🔁 Reuse the system The real productivity gain comes when great prompts and processes stop being one-off conversations and become repeatable workflows. 💡 Imagine doing this for: 🔬 Research 📊 Business analysis ✍️ Content creation 📧 Email workflows 📝 Reports 💻 Coding projects 📚 Course creation 📄 Documentation 🧠 Strategy 📋 SOPs 🤖 AI agent workflows You’re essentially moving from: “Prompt Claude.” to: “Build an operating system around Claude.” That’s a much more powerful way to work with AI. 🚀 They’re the people building systems around the model. 📁 Organised context 🧠 Reusable knowledge ⚙️ Clear instructions 📄 Repeatable templates 🔁 Consistent workflows Build it once. Improve it over time. Reuse it across projects. #Claude #ClaudeAI #ClaudeCowork #Anthropic #AI
