I'm surprised they never did like a Jackal race, they could put them in desert climates and draw aesthetics from Egyptian mythology. Like make their culture heavily anti-undead/necromancy. They could use crocodiles to take up a similar slot that dogs/wolves would for other races.

There is one! It's the Khenra, from one of the Magic the Gathering/5e documents, specifically Planeshift: Amonkhet. They've got a really unique feature because Khenra are almost always born as closely bonded twins, so if you're playing with your twin in the party, you can reroll 1s on attacks, checks, or saves, but if your twin is dead, you can't be frightened.

Pathfinder also has (or at least used to have) Rougarou, which have wolf heads. (Gnolls are also kinda doglike but that's different). I agree that dogfolk should be a thing!

Lupins were created in Basic and can be found in the Mystara Castle Amberville module. In home brew games, I’ve used dingo style as barbarians, Dobermans as fighters, basset hounds as rangers and chihuahuas as witch doctors (shaman)
