definitely need a switch, to dangerous standing possibly in backwash water, barefoot, plugging an unplugging pump 2-3 times, to backwash.

Since you had it 120 you could’ve just added a faceless gfi and loaded the plug off that instead of the breaker but either way works

bro, it wasn't the 15a device on 20amp breaker. all 15 and 20a devices are made the same

If it came with the piece of equipment its doesnt matter. That was just a loose connection with all that corrosion. I HATE when box stores do that. Or they put a bad device back on the shelf

Didn’t the plug and cord come pre-installed on the pump motor? If yes, seems strange they would size it incorrectly. What are the full load amps on the pump motor nameplate?

I know pools still almost always come with a twist lock but didn’t they take that part out of 680 back in 2011 or 2014? Am I wrong? Nothing against you PC, just a legit question
