I agree with most of your assessment. I didn’t know what to make of the ending. My initial reaction was very negative, but it has been thought provoking. Hopefully the next instalment will provide context.

exactly summarizes my thoughts between this and the previous two films. 28 weeks later was basically a copy paste of 28 days later adrenaline action except its substance got deleted. don't get me wrong, i liked the memorable sequences from the sequel; but compared from the first and third film as a body work, it isn't just the same caliper.

about the ending, ive heard it best said the epilogue was there to show us what happens when we take on the sins/lies of father, jimmy was stunted by his trauma and accepted his father’s insanity, Spike rejected all of that and his mother was his really his savior, she enabled him to escape the toxic masculinity those superheros andlack of humanity and such. The dr and mother show and allow him to become a real man not his father. The ending is there to show what spike isn’t and who kids like him can become it’s not at all useless

completely agree with your review. ending defo has grown on me. 100 percent agree with your assessment of 28 weeks. other than the opening (which danny directed) the film was so lacking in many aspects. it was intense but I didnt feel for any characters at all. I deeply cared for Spike and Isla in this film.

I'd give it a 6/10 tbh. some good parts , some this shouldn't have made the cut moments and storyline was all over the place tbh not to mention the whole misdirection on what and how the virus can be caught 😂
