ac should stay on, it will work extra hard when it is turned back on. maintaining temperature is usually cheaper...

Turning AC off and on uses more energy then leaving it on. Unless leaving for more then a day.

unless you leave home for multiple days it's way better for both ambiance and energy consumption to keep ac on constantly on a decent temperature (24C for example)
