I'm going to be honest I agree with your logic but we could say this about like so many instances with Batman Spider-Man and so many other characters who don't kill like the Insomniac and Arkham games there's so many characters who reasonably are dead but that's where Comics use suspension of this belief I think them forcing him to kill Zod was lazy import writing and does not fit Superman character but in the scene we are 100% supposed to be believing that he's alive they did it poorly because it seemed kind of unreasonable to believe he's alive but Still That was supposed to be suspension display
