It transformed across periods: Renaissance, Baroque, and during 1841–1871 into its current Romantic Neo-Gothic style inspired by England’s Windsor Castle, under the Schwarzenberg family. The Schwarzenbergs owned it from 1661 until WWII; after legal changes in 1947, it became state property and a National Cultural Monument.
