The Story of My Lost Handbag in Italy 🇮🇹✈️” During my Europe trip, I rented a car and traveled across several countries from Germany to Switzerland, Switzerland to Italy, Italy to France, and then back to Germany. Everything was going smoothly until I reached Italy. Ironically, even in busy Milan, I was extremely careful. I had just bought a Louis Vuitton handbag there and wore it only for a single photo. The real story began when I visited Pisa to see the Leaning Tower. That same evening, the city was celebrating with fireworks it was a local festival, and the area was somewhat remote. Unfortunately, that’s the night I lost my belongings. It was entirely my fault my carelessness. My new handbag was stolen, along with my credit card, important medications, my Michael Kors watch, and other essentials. I won’t blame anyone but myself. But what happened after that was even more disappointing the response from the Italian police. We tried calling the police three times that evening. Hours later, they finally came, only to tell us to return the next morning. When we did, the station was full of people who also had their belongings stolen. One family from the Netherlands lost everything luggage, valuables, everything but a single handbag. The strangest part? I had a small GPS tracker in my handbag. I gave the police the exact location of where the bag was, and they still didn’t act. I asked them, “Why can’t you just go there and check?” And the officer said, “You have to call the police.” I was standing in a police station, talking to a police officer, and he still told me to “call the police.” He admitted he was the only one working there and couldn’t leave. I asked him to call someone else for help, and he didn’t. So I took matters into my own hands. I went to the GPS location myself. I even saw someone who might’ve been involved. I politely asked him, “You look like my dad. Please, just return my bag especially my medication.” He denied knowing anything. I called the police again and told them I was right there at the location. They came quickly this time but refused to enter the house. Even though the GPS signal clearly showed the bag was inside, they said they had no right to go in without a warrant. It was incredibly frustrating. After so many hours, nothing was recovered. The police didn’t support us, even when it would’ve taken them just a few minutes to help. I’ve traveled to many places , in Dubai, for example, tourists feel protected, safe, and respected. But in Italy, I felt abandoned. The police should be trained to support tourists better. After all, tourism is a huge part of their country’s economy. This experience, although difficult, has become a major memory from my trip, a reminder to always be careful and to double-protect your belongings.
