manuals are also more reliable, require less maintenance, and give you greater control of your car (something automatics will never be able to give you)

I like them both equally, Manuals are cheaper to repair and a little bit more robust. But I am also grateful for Automatics.

as a fairly new driver whose first car is a manual, from my experience I'd suggest even getting an old and a cheap car as a first. not only bc you'll most likely wreck it but personally i can shift the gears by the sound of the engine (less sound isolation). sometimes i find it difficult to drive newer cars bc i always end up speeding and it's annoying to constantly look at the dash😅

I would say that if your car has more than 350-400hp (depends of the weight of the car) modern autos maje more sense. Because at this HP you get to the red line so fast you wont be holding your steering wheel at all. Just constantly shifting. Also autos put way less stress to the clutches. I have low power cars. 103kw, 110kw, 147kw so im not losing that much time to autos with same power. But if I had on my lightwrith cars 350hp. Then it would be shifting every 5s. There loss of time is massive. So when I will be maybe bying something more powerfull in the future. It will be automatic with paddleshifters.
