i just saw a lady who did everything to get her tomatoes to grow, but the one wild tomato plant on her roof rain collector is thriving, full of tomatoes

All those branches are vital for photosynthesis. If you consistently fertilize enough you don’t have to prune anything besides leaves touching the soil.

First year not pruning and they’re huge already. Some of the suckers I would’ve clipped are bearing fruit or turned into an additional main stem. I don’t feel it’s worth it

if you're looking absolutely maximize your tomato plant, sure do this
however, if you're just here for the love of the game (like me) just fertilize them (I use an organic fertilizer) and water them daily until they are well established. at that point just let the rain do the work for you and only water doing long dry spells
unless you have them in a pot, then you should water daily

The tomatoes I don’t prune always seem to do better than the ones I do prune

Listen to the comments. Tomatoes have done really well historically without TikTok wannabe scientists.

nope they thrive on neglecting. treat it like your ex treated you. ignore it's existence and only show up when you need something

Stop lying to us. You just don’t want us to produce fruit at home. You want us to go to the grocery store and spend a lot of money.
