The Japanese beetles are getting me this year too. I want to avoid neem oil to protect my pollinators so I’m going to try to make a cedarwood oil solution to spray. The bees might hate it but at least it won’t hurt them.

Chat gpt is my garden expert and chat says to do this: a mix of neem oil with a few drops of dish soap in water and applied every few days in the evening can help manage them without harming beneficial insects like bees or butterflies (as long as it’s dry by morning).

I just sprayed with garlic spray and they are gone. It stinks real bad filling the sprayer but not so bad on the plant itself

I bought really big Japanese beetle bags on Amazon that some YouTube flower farmer recommended and they have been working pretty well. I have them mistake at opposite ends of my yard far from my plants. Those little effers are evil this year.

treating your grassy area for the grubs could help manage the population without hurting the other pollinators attracted to your flowers

I’m going to be honest, I’ve used sevin on these before the blooms start 🙈. I know it’s not ideal, but it seemed to be the only thing that stopped them.

It’s honestly too late to help this year. But applying milky spor layer ca help in the fall. Soapy spray is great too. The goal is to target the grubs in the ground not the actual flying bugs.

I used neem oil on my roses and zinnias and it worked so well. Barely had beetle damage. I would just reapply after rain

This happened to me this year. I got traps, picked them off, but I did have to spray a grape vine that was calling them. They are gone now.

Maybe grow marigolds near them if you have room! I don’t usually have much of an issue with them at all if there’s marigolds!

Mine get eaten by earwigs. I leave my left over coffee out there (sweet and they fill the cup). Also I know its done but whenever my zinnias are to close i have major problems with the leaves. I find each plant gets so big.

1) Remove the affected leaves. The enzyme they secrete after eating attracts more JB.

Zone 7 here and we are having the same issue. Neem oil once a week -plus pick them off. That’s all you can do. They are eating my zins, dahlias and hibiscus 🌺 they won’t eat the blooms usually
