This is my all time favorite book. I read it during a time I felt hopeless , but the character truly made me feel seen and inspired me to take control of what I can to make life feel hopeful.

A life-affirming book and good for those times when we pass a threshold and must let go of a certain part of our lives that is lost forever. Also, I think about this quote often: "There is no impulse more rational than love. It makes life more bearable for the lover and the loved one. We should have recognized in time that this was our only chance, our only hope for a better life."

Do you happen to be an mbti Sensing? I read this about a year ago and found the book very boring and essentially a list of mundane tasks, and I’m wondering if maybe it’s because I’m very strongly iNtuitive lol. Maybe the underlying issue for me is it’s so focused on the present reality and small tangible details rather than connected ideas and meaning. Not trying to hate at all but am moreso curious about how to re-evaluate my perspective on it since this made me consider re-reading.:-)

Really loved the novel, I chose her after Elizabeth Gilbert recommended it in 2019, with words: it’s a bit feminist, after i read it, I stared at the wall with this feeling how loneliness ca teach us to live.
