my secret trick to make doctors actually take me srsly is lie about being diagnosed by another doctor and coming in for a second opinion istg this triggers something primal in them and they will run all possible tests to try and make a better more detailed diagnosis…

my partners gyno told her that he "doesn't believe she has it" but we pushed and went ahead with the surgery anyway. when he finally had a look it was so bad some of her organs had fused together with it. always advocate for yourself because they won't.

I asked my doctor if I had Endometriosis and he said “probably but there’s no point getting a diagnosis unless you want to get pregnant”

I literally had to request my surgery, and my gynae/surgeon said 'if you want, fine. but there's no point- we're not going to find anything.' ...endo and cysts removed.

Very similar to me. And after 14 years, they could barely look at me post surgery when stage 3 endometriosis was detected.

I went through this over 30 years ago, so the fact that they haven’t figured out a better way to diagnose endometriosis is ridiculous!

Age 19 went to the dr as I had lots of PCOS symptoms. “I can tell just by looking at you that you don’t have it” (because I was skinny). Finally got diagnosed at 29.

The trick is to tell them you met this guy and now you want to get pregnant. If they don’t give a toss about you as a woman they’ll definitely give a toss about a hypothetical baby for a hypothetical man

You would think a society that desperately relies on women to take care of everyone, would care about women at least enough to keep them alive and well. 😭

Everyone needs to start being forceful and quietly threatening to gynaecologists (by going to the hospital board). I have done this for over 10 years and it has worked out very well for me in terms of getting their quality of healthcare that I deserve. And what we all deserve. The NHS are the experts, but under immense pressure…. but they can do it. If enough people adopt my approach long-term it could potentially prompt them to improve. If you don’t complain, then change won’t happen. Good luck to everyone out there.

the fact that i went to a private (non nhs) specialist gyno and walked away with a “suspected diagnosis” and a prescription for high dose progesterone as a trial, to “treat it as if it is endo and see if it works. if it works, it probably is” and it did. nhs didn’t take me seriously until i started advocating for myself. after this treatment i have now had no periods for 6 years, and none of the pain and other symptoms either (bladder/bowel). recently advocated for myself again within an nhs gyno clinic to stay on these meds, went in and said “this stops my pain and improves my quality of life. i want approval to stay on it and i understand the risks” - they tested my bloods, then just went over the risks (which are low) and said yes. don’t ask, tell them what outcome you want
