horses dont have good depth vision in front of them so the horse actually got scared that it was going to step on the dog and that's why it went right/to the side to prevent running the dog over ! thats also why it was fine when the dog was running next to it, but once the started running right in front of the horse it caused this reaction.

I had a training horse named Breeze who was terrified of wind. He’d pull “WE WiLL DIEE” spook move so often that after a while my legs turned into Schwarzenegger legs from gripping the saddle.
