@lostwithlydia: Our public lands (including all of the places in this video) are in danger ‼️ A provision proposed by Senator Mike Lee of Utah in the Senate’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ would force the government to sell up to 3.3 MILLION acres of BLM and Forest Service land in 11 Western states (Colorado, Alaska, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, California, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada). 250 million acres of land are up for grabs - that’s larger than the state of Texas. So many places I know and love are at risk. But it doesn’t just affect those of us who love to hike and camp, it also would impact clean water sources, wildlife habitats, hunting grounds, cultural sites and more. Who would buy them?
Developers, corporations, private buyers.
There is ZERO requirement that these lands stay public, affordable, or accessible. Once sold, they are gone for good. Why does it matter?
If this passes quietly, millions of acres could vanish from public hands forever. Politicians count on us not noticing. What can you do? 📱Call your senators (whether you live in one of these states or not) and ask them to vote NO on the Big Beautiful Bill, or any bill that includes provisions to sell off public lands.
