You’ve heard the term “GIP” but what is it and what does it do? Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) is an intestinal hormone with a wide range of physiological actions (29412817). • After you eat, it helps stimulate the release of insulin so you store glucose more efficiently and lower your blood sugar. • When you do not eat, it stimulates the release of glucagon so you raise your blood sugar and avoid going hypoglycemic. • When you have a lot of insulin in your blood, it stimulates fat storage and thus gaining body fat. • When you do not have a lot of insulin in your blood, it stimulates fat breakdown and losing body fat. In essence, GIP helps control your blood sugar and the amount of body fat you have. When you eat naturally, your blood sugar rises and you release insulin, GLP-1, and GIP to facilitate nutrient storage and lowering your blood sugar. Thus, under normal conditions, GIP may facilitate fat gain. However, if you use the GLP-1/GIP agonists, such as tirzepatide or retatrutide, you can experience the fat breakdown effects of GIP while having low insulin. GIP signaling, when coming from a GLP-1/GIP agonist, will directly lead to fat breakdown, in particular subcutaneous fat which is the pudge under the skin. One study demonstrated a potential increase in fat breakdown of +13% when usng a GIP agonist and a 28% increase in fat breakdown when using a GLP-1/GIP/Glucagon triagonist. The solo GLP-1 or glucagon agonist did not stimulate significant fat breakdown by themselves (39935317). It looks like GIP is the key to fat breakdown (Tirz) and adding a glucagon receptor can double the fat breakdown (Reta). In an applied sense, Tirz is great and Reta is greater! If you’re interested in quieting food noise and having an easier time breaking down fat and staying lean, Thrive has you covered! Tirz and Reta are the miracle peptides that can make your life MUCH easier, more enjoyable, and healthier! 🧬 @thrivehrt.com🩺 • TRT, peptides, blood work 🇺🇸
