As an Ontarian, I don’t pronounced the second t in Toronto lol. In my unpopular opinion, pretending to be from Canada is flattering but at the same time cowardly because the pretenders weren’t willing to be proud of where they are from.

i met a dude in Australia covered in Canadian flags. I asked him what part of the us are you from, he said Toronto.. and I said what part of Texas are you from..... can spot a septic a mile off

Genuine good manners are your flag. Went to Ireland (great people, beautiful place ❤️) and we were AUTOMATICALLY assumed American... for a few minutes. Usually anywhere from 5-15 minutes in to interactions you could see the shift in their eyes and then they'd ask, "where ya from?" "Oh, Canada!" "OHHHHH, YOU'RE CANADIAN!" And their demeanor. Completely changed. And that my friends, is the magic.

Well said, this has been going on for many years, it was a standing joke when I travelled a long time ago. I went into a restaurant on a trip and placed my order. The lady said you're Canadian because I "asked" for my food, "the other people demand!" Soooo you're right, they know! 😎👍🏻👊🏻
