@thefilmforyou: The iconic hanging scene in Mission: Impossible (1996)—where Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) dangles inches above a pressure-sensitive floor in the CIA vault—almost didn’t happen due to repeated technical difficulties during filming. Tom Cruise kept hitting his head on the floor during early takes because it was so hard to balance perfectly in mid-air. To stay suspended horizontally without touching the ground, he had to control his body with extreme precision while hanging from cables. Director Brian De Palma grew frustrated and was about to give up on the full one-shot version. He suggested splitting the scene into two different shots to make it easier to film. But Cruise, determined to make it work, came up with the idea to fill his shoes with coins to counterbalance his weight. That gave him just enough control to hover without tipping. #missionimpossible1 #missionimpossiblemovie #missionimpossible1996 #tomcruise
