This is a dry cleaners guide to yellow curry, mustard, and turmeric stains! These can be tricky if handled wrong so I hope this lends a hand 😊 To start, you should know that curry and mustard get their distinct color from turmeric which is a deep, golden-orange spice known for adding color, flavor and nutrition to foods. Because of its ability to change almost anything a different color we have to follow the oxidizable or bleachable stain removal process. Gently scrape or rinse away any hard physical bits of food and then prepare some type of soaking basin (sink, bucket, top load washer, etc) with water of at least 140 F / 60 C. Then add 1/8 of a cup of powdered oxygen bleach like OxiClean, Vanish or some good ole sodium percaronbate. These sodiums release oxygen which helps lift away soil and correct the color. Oxygen bleaches LOVE high temperatures and long amounts of time. For best results soak overnight, if you’re in a rush, 30-60 minutes will do. Once your soak is complete wash as instructed by the care label but INSPECT BEFORE TUMBLE DRYING. If the stain is out dry, if not you’ll want to repeat the soaking process above OR try another method of oxygen bleach: hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is the liquid form of powdered oxygen bleach and is a bit easier to use. Simply your soiled areas with 3% HP and let it air dry. Pro tip - hit it with hot air from a hair dryer for better and faster results 😉 Let me know what stains you need help with! #currystain #mustardstain #stainremoval #laundry #mustard #curry #yellowcurry #yellowcurrystain #turmeric #turmericstain #stain #stains #dryclean #stainedclothes #removeacurrystain #removeamustardstain #howtoremoveacurrystain #howtoremoveamustardstain #howtoremoveayellowcurrystain #explained #stem
