How to Become a Better Writer 4 tips to Improve Your Writing. There are several ways to become a better writer and improve your overall skills. These are just four of my favorites. Some of them are old and familiar, like reading quality, reading diversely and reading often. A lot of writers stop reading because all the time they used to spend curled up with a good book is now spent hunched behind a desk, tapping away at keys. But it is fundamental as there is a famous saying that says Reading is breathing in and Writing is breathing out. When you read you learn how to tell stories as well as how to write stories. The other tips I’ve learned on my own, I guess? I realized the more I journaled over the years the easier it was to discern my voice and get in touch with what I wanted to say. I also felt way more confident navigating my story and manipulating my characters, the plot, and their backstories. Anyway these are tips I’ve integrated into my writing process over my writing journey and plan to utilize throughout my writer career. Hopefully they can be used on your journey to self publishing, traditional publishing or maybe you just wanted to read your book and put it on yoru shelf. Wherever your path may lead, these tips will help, whether you’re writing your first book or your seventh one, on the first draft of the third draft.
