my Nana would get her son to bring home boxes of chips from his job at frito lay and would sell them for 50 cents to the neighborhood kids, for $1.50 you could also get a can of soda and half a lemon with a saladito wrapper in plastic.

My dad use to open the garage bar for the whole neighborhood to come hangout eat food drink and watch football games we had popcorn machines snow cone machines gaming areas etc it was a great way for people to get to know everyone

we didn't have a candy lady BUT we had the lunch lady! my mommy 🖤🖤 she was our lunch lady at school and made lunches for all the neighborhood kids in the summer because she was home with us. it was awesome ☺️she's retired now but still cooking at home for anyone who wants or needs a plate

I miss my candy lady. Her name was Mrs Gloria , she had sour cool cups, regular cool cups, ones with fruit. Chips any kind u could think of, candy, she even had nickel candy. Also had pickles, canned soda. She raised me fr. If we was hungry and we didn’t have the money right then she would let us have a tab with our name in her notebook and we would pay her back.
