I’m hypermobile and have SI joint pain on the left constantly. Also glute pain.

What’s the main reason of the si joint flaring up and what helps prevent it and not just treat the symptom

No one’s listening… I used to suffer from si joint issues. Biggest game changer is a heat pad and stretch crack the area…. No pain.

Are there ways to discern between SI joint pain and priformis pain? It seems like if SI was misdiagnosed as priformis, some stretches and exercises could do more harm.

I am hypermobile (EDS) and use an SI joint brace when running. It has made so much difference to how much pain I suffer with afterwards.

What if you can’t raise up into glute bridge because of the pain?

I had this a few years ago along with what my doctor and PT also believed I had a bulging disc. Worst pain I’ve ever experienced, I could barely walk

What’s the difference between si joint pain and periformis pain, cuz I get little pinched in kinda of that region but can’t distinguish where it’s coming from

My SI joint on the left will shift and get stuck. I have to have a PT adjust it back. Then it takes a while for all the muscles to calm down. Do you have solutions to self-adjust?

Personally I’d never put someone in the pigeon position. That position itself is very aggressive on the SI joints. I would do a standing or four point glute activation.

I was injured and SI was stretched 10 year ago. I feel it move and shift sometimes and it creates lots of pain. My favourite stretch is the pigeon. I do dead lifts to strengthen my lower back and glutes, plus Bulgarian split squats. As long as I keep my glutes strong I don’t have as much pain on my lower back from my SI.

I usually do bridges with feet on the ground- what’s the purpose of the chair?

@NBM :
Do you think it’s safe doing that with a chair that has wheels?

Got any suggestions for SI, torn L5 nerve, & hip dysfunction from injuries & HSD? During 4 years of PT , each exercise for that one issue would irritate the other issues.

So I have been going to PT for weak pelvic floor and left hip and joint pain. I have very weak glutes and very tight hamstrings and inner thigh muscles. This has helped more than PT has!!! They also have me doing abduction and adductor exercises. I feel like that sometimes makes it worse.

Please could you or anyone who knows explain why does activating the adductors through squeezing the foam roller help in decreasing SI pain ? Like what’s the relation?

Would love more on SI joint exercises! I’ve had multiple steroid shots and years of on and off PT and it always comes back
