The working title was Snakes on a plane. It was Jackson who refused the new title claiming he had only signed on because of the title Snakes on a plane.

What about movies that would've done better if they had a different name? John Carter (2012) comes to mind. Originally titled "John Carter of Mars," Disney dropped the "Mars" because it was believed women were averse to science fiction and that simply "John Carter" would appeal to a broader demographic. Even the novel it's adapted from "A Princess of Mars" would've been a better title, although that might've led to a "Last Samurai"situation where the title character and main character are not the same and it just confuses people. They still would've been less confused by that than they were by "John Carter."

The movie Renaissance Man was originally called Army Intelligence in Australia (and probably other places outside of the US). I think it’s a much better name but they feared the joke would’ve been insulting to Americans😅😂

We use code names a lot when out filming on the streets for both the protection of the crew and actors. We have work to do, 40 people standing around hoping for a glimpse of Tom Cruise or whoever is not something I really want to be dealing with.

Blade Runner was even the name if a different book. It was about a surgery black market but for some reason they bought the rights and just used the title for the movie we all know and love.
