@iamaliciaperkins: How to Answer “Walk Me Through Your Résumé” Without Sounding Like a Task Manager Most get this question wrong not because they lack experience, but because they focus on efficiency instead of strategy. Senior-level interviews aren’t about listing roles. They’re about revealing how you lead, think, and move the business forward. If your answer sounds like a job description, you’re being read as supportnot leadership. If your next move depends on how you’re positioned in the room not just what’s on paper start here. #careeradvice #interview #interviewtips #jobsearch
I get it, but we also need to put energy into shifting the mindset of top executives. The execution layer IS the same layer creating the strategy. It’s is extremely rare for a non practitioner to ideate good, practical ideas that succeed. It’s not solely about comms, it’s valuing and thus elevating the DOERS.

Don’t just tell them what you did. Show them why it mattered.

True. It’s like the STAR method : situation, tasks, actions and results. Your answer should be structured this way

I am a Managing Director. When I interview, it is with the C suite at my competitors. We don’t go through CV. They already know.

Indeed, this reminds me of how Target taught leadership. SBO- situation, behavior, and outcome.

Focus on the 3's, 4's, and 5's. #'s, $'s, %'s. it's all about the numbers

Why don't they ask direct straight forward questions? why do we always need to interrupt their questions?

How can this be fit to just customer service or office assistance? I see this topic but it’s usually just for higher roles so I’m unsure how to structure for “lower” roles

I also see a shift in companies wanting senior leaders who also "roll up their sleeves." Signaling they want a senior leader, but want someone tasks oriented and actually doing the work of others on a team. You just have to listen to key terms to determine if that's the role you want.
