Whenever I remove the card I leave card door open until the card gets back in. Closed door always mean card is inside

Soooo, my problem is I haven’t found a card reader that agrees with my computer. Now I haven’t gotten an expensive one, but I ve been through a few and they either want me to format the card or boot out of the system when I try to transfer shots. 😔 So, I’m stuck plugging my camera into the PC. Card never leaves the camera.
